SUNDAY SCHOOL SCHEDULE

Fourth Sunday, 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Hands on Mission Project or Fellowship Event
FRIDAYS AT FIRST will start November 7th after the end of the high school football season.
The First, Third and Fifth Friday Nights will be MOVIE NIGHT starting at 6:30 pm. Bring your family, firends and neighbors for an evening of fun. We will watch a family friendly movie and enjoy snacks together. This is an opportunity to have a night out that is fun for everyone without any cost.
The Second Friday Night will be GAME NIGHT starting at 6:30 pm. Do you have a favorite game? Bring it, your family, your friends and neighbors to an evening of playing games, snacks and fellowship. We have bumper pool, foosball, and scrabble. Again, another night filled with fun at no cost.
The Fourth Friday Night will be TRAVEL NIGHT starting at 6:30 pm. Let's travel around the world without leaving Union! People who have been to many exciting places in our country and around the world will share their pictures and tell of their adventures. We could go to Antarctica, Japan, Costa Rica, Egypt, or The Grand Canyon. There is no cost and plenty of snacks for all to enjoy.
LISTENING SESSIONS SCHEDULED The Mission Council of the Presbytery of Giddings Lovejoy invites you to scheduled sessions in preparation for consideration of the amendments to the Constitution at the Stated Meeting on February 21, 2009 at Third Presbyterian Church, Moline Acres, Missouri. The Listening Sessions are sceduled for Sunday afternoons, 3:00 to 5:00 pm on the following dates:

October 19th College Avenue Presbyterian Church, 1702 Clawson Street, Alton, IL 62202
REVEREND LINDA will celebrate 25 years in the ministry, Sunday, October 26th, at First Presbyterian Church. Everyone is invited to attend the 10:15 am church service, followed by dinner and a 2:00 pm reception. Please RSVP to the church, Carol or Dorothy if you plan to attend.
FRANKLIN COUNTY CROP HUNGER WALK The Crop Walk will take place, Sunday, October 12th at 1 pm. Registration is at 12:30 pm, at Lions Lake, Grand Avenue, Washington. Twenty five percent of the funds raised will go to the Union Food Pantry and Loving Hearts Outreach.

Helping opportunity: Caring volunteers to visit patients at the TIP Hospice, serving Franklin County. No previous experience necessary. Volunteers may choose assignments that suit their time and interests. Call the church for details.
Women's news:
Morning Circle will meet on October 24th at the church at 9:00 am to work in the kitchen. Doris is the hostess and will proivde the dessert. A snack lunch may be brought if you desire.
We are now in the process of collecting Bar Codes from Best Choice food items. Please save these bar codes and place them in the box labeled, Trash to Treasure, located in the narthex. Church World Service receives $60.00 for every 1,000 bar codes turned in.
CHRUCH WORLD SERVICE Gift of the Heart kits are used worldwide. Please consider contributing to the layettes that the PW will be donating to CWS for emergency, disaster response and assistance to refugees. The layettes will be taken to the Festival of Sharing in Sedalia, MO, October 18th. Thanks for your help.
ANNUAL FALL BRUNCH The Annual Fall Brunch given by the PW will take place Tuesday, November 11th, at 9:30 am. The program will be a panel of six women pastors from the Union/Washington area who will discuss Women in Ministry.
Men's news:
CALLING ALL MEN. That is if you are a male between the stages of high school and alive. The Presbyterian Men's Breakfast is always held on the Second Saturday of the month at 8:00 am at the White Rose. We begin by having breakfast and conversation. The we will do a Project together. The project may be at church or at one of our church members homes. We will be finished befor lunch. Plan to participate the whole morning or come when your schedule allows. Let's make this an important ministry of our church.

Eight families, individuals were given assistance during the month of September with $370.00 provided for: Ameren UE: single disabled mother of four, a family of three, a couple whose home was flooded, a single mother of three and a single woman. Rent: Single disabled mother, a family of four and a family of five. Thank you for your continuing generosity.
The Deacons will meet regularly on the third Sunday of each month.
Food Pantry news:
Union Food Pantry always needs food and appreciates all donations. Items for your consideration are: flour, sugar, coffee, cereal, dry pasta, canned fruit, juice, spaghetti, tomato sauce, kool aid, pancake mix, canned meat dinners, syrup, and personal items. Perishable items (those needing refrigeration) cannot be accepted. Money is always welcome, and is used to purchase meat and other items. At the current time they have an abundance of canned corn, green beans and peas.
There are Food Pantry donation boxes at this and many local churches. Contributions of grocery items can also be taken directly to the food pantry at 115 Locust Street, Union. Contributions of cash can be mailed to the Union Food Pantry, % the Union Ministerial Alliance, PO Box 101, Union, MO 63084.
Thanks also to all the unsung heros who participate in organizations or by themselves contributing both with items and their time that greatly impact the success of the Food Pantry. |
